Spring 2 2025

Week beginning 7th April 2025

Early Years loved their parents joining them for the Easter Craft Session on Monday – the parents love the sessions as much as the children! We made Easter egg pictures, Easter baskets and Easter cards.

We have been taking part in lots of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ activities, counting the food he ate, learning the days of the week and making beautiful butterflies.

We have also been learning all about Easter, what happened to Jesus and why it is a special time for us.

Our caterpillars are still in their cocoons, they must be so comfortable in our classroom being talked to and read to everyday by the children.

We also loved the end of term Easter Disco, dancing and playing party games.

Have a wonderful Easter break!

Week beginning 31th March 2025

This week, Early Years have been reading, retelling and exploring The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

We have taken part in climate change activities looking at different types of transport, learning about air pollution and thinking of eco-friendly ways we can travel. We have also explored ways we can conserve water and energy at home and at school.

We collected sticks and twigs to make Easter crosses to add to our Easter Garden.

The caterpillars are in finally in their cocoons! We can’t wait to see what emerges!

We performed our Palm Sunday Assembly for the whole school and our parents and carers this week. You were all fabulous - well done Early Years!

Week beginning 24th March 2025

This week, Early Years have spent a lot of time outdoors – searching for bugs, exploring the water area, making courses to walk along and planting in the garden centre.

We have also decorated pebbles with Spring themed pictures, made Mother’s Day cards and planted sunflower seeds.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Teddy Bears Picnic! We made our own sandwiches and sat together, with our teddies and cuddly toys to enjoy the picnic.

Our caterpillars aren’t little caterpillars anymore – they are ‘big, fat caterpillars!’

Week beginning 17th March 2025

Early Years have been reading, retelling and sequencing Jack and the Beanstalk. We have planted seeds and built tall towers to beat the height of the beanstalk.

We took part in the Pilgrimage of Hope by walking around the school grounds, ending at our newly blessed cross in the hall, where we held a Celebration of the Word.

The caterpillars are making their way to the top to form cocoons, they have grown so much!

On St George’s Book Day, we all dressed up as our favourite book character or in our pyjamas, ready for a bedtime story, and took part in lots of book themed activities.

Week beginning 10th March 2025

Early Years are enjoying the New Life topic, planting seeds, naming the parts of a flower and learning about life cycles. We have been role playing in the indoor Flower Shop and outdoor Garden Centre.

We have been keeping a close eye on the caterpillars, watching them grow almost daily!

We have been reading the book Rosie’s Walk which has helped us with positional language.

We wore black and white on Friday to celebrate Newcastle United playing in the Carabao Cup Final. Good luck Newcastle!

Week beginning 3rd March 2025

Early Years have welcomed some caterpillars into St George’s! We will watch them grow and turn into butterflies over the next few weeks which we’re very excited to see!

We have explored Black History week by listening to some music and reading some books around the theme. We appear to be big Chuck Berry fans!

We made pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and took part in an Ash Wednesday service in class. We know we are in the season of Lent, getting ready for Easter.
