Summer 2 2025

Week beginning 16th June 2025

This week, Early Years have been exploring different modes of transport. We have used the junk modelling to make vehicles, created our own road maps and built fabulous train tracks. We have acted out and role-played different ways of using transport, such as, driving cars, riding on a train, flying an airplane, sailing on a boat.

Outdoors, we have planted seeds, searched for minibeasts, made scented potions and played in the water trays to keep cool from the hot weather!

We have also started creating our art work for the schools 150 years celebrations.

Week beginning 9th June 2025

This week, Early Years baked Gingerbread Men! We measured the ingredients, following the recipe and mixed them altogether. Then we rolled the dough and used the cutter to make the gingerbread man shape. Once they were cooked, we decorated them with icing. Thankfully, they didn’t run away so we could eat them ourselves!

We were lucky enough to have Fire Fighters visit us. Four friendly Fire Fighters came and spoke to us about their job and we talked about what they do to help people. We talked about how we ring 999 to ask for help and what to do if the fire alarm goes off at home or at school. They had to leave to go and help some people, but they came straight back to finish their visit. When they returned, we did some exercises on the yard to make sure we were fit and healthy, like Fire Fighters are. Then, we all had a turn at putting out the ‘fire’ using the real hose from the Fire Engine. We all made fantastic Fire Fighters and learned a lot - I think we all want to be Fire Fighters when we grow up!

Week beginning 2nd June 2025

Early Years have been retelling and role playing the story of The Gingerbread Man, singing “run, run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!”

We have enjoyed playing in the new role play areas – a ‘summer holiday’ and travel agents, following our new topic of Travel and Transport.

We have also loved looking for bugs and mini beasts! Exploring the areas outdoors and using magnifying glasses to see if we can identify them.
