Autumn 1 2024

Week beginning 30th September 2024

This week in Early Years, we baked and decorated our own Three Little Pig biscuits. We measured and mixed the ingredients, and then made sure the pigs all had 2 eyes, a nose and a mouth. Some of us also added 2 ears and eyebrows!

We loved dressing in our own clothes and costumes and taking part in lots of animal themed activities on Thursday! We acted out all of the animals we were dressed as in PE and made some animal themed masks.

Week beginning 23rd September 2024

This week in Early Years, we have been reading The Three Little Pigs. We have loved role playing the different characters, calling “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down!” and building our own houses. We have also made structures out of different materials – lolly sticks, Lego Duplo blocks, foam blocks and the outdoor construction bricks. We have also looked at what the buildings around us are made from and agree that bricks are much better to build with than straw and sticks!

We have been looking at Road Safety. We have role played being careful when crossing roads, understanding the importance of wearing seat belts and using car seats in our vehicles, and why we should wear a helmet whilst on our bikes and scooters.

We have also met our Year 6 Buddies - we have been paired up with a Year 6 friend who we’ll get to know over the year through play and reading activities.

Week beginning 16th September 2024

We have taken advantage of the good weather this week in Early Years. We have been digging, building tents and sat around a ‘campfire’ role playing toasting marshmallows. We have mark made in numerous different ways - painting pictures, chalking on the ground, drawing and colouring pictures. We also took part in our first RE lesson altogether, talking about how we are all precious to our families and learning to understand the importance of our names.

Week beginning 9th September 2024

We have had another fun filled week in Early Years! We have loved role playing the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’, doing jigsaws, building houses and playing the animal bingo game.

Last year we planted some potatoes in our outdoor area and we found that they had grown over the summer! We collected them, washed off the mud and cooked them. Most of us had a taste of the potatoes, some of us mashed them and added butter – delicious!

Week beginning 2nd September 2024

Early Years have had a fantastic first week of the new school year! Our new friends have settled in beautifully! We have explored all areas, both indoors and outdoors. We were lucky enough to have some good weather to enjoy water play outdoors too. We loved our first PE session in the hall and our visit to the school library. We are all very excited to see what this year will bring!
