Newsletter 9 June 2025

9th June 2025

Dear Parents and Carers of St George’s,

I hope you and your families and friends are well.

Everyone at St George’s is looking forward to a very busy and exciting summer term. Please read the newsletter and check the Dates for your Diary to ensure that you don’t miss out.

We welcome our new Pope

We begin this term with a moment of great significance for the global Church, with the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV. As we pray for him in this new ministry, we are reminded of the enduring strength and continuity of the Church, and of the vital role Catholic education plays in shaping the lives of young people in light of the Gospel.

KS2 Well-being Workshops

Miss Lawson, our Mental Health and Well-being Lead, is running some Well-being Workshops over this half term with KS2 Classes.

Year Time Date

Year 3/Year 4 9.00am Thursday 19 June

Year 5/Year 6 9.00am Thursday 26 June

These will be organised in the same way as our other workshops but with a focus on all things to do with your child’s mental health and well-being. Miss Lawson will be sharing some information around fostering and promoting positive mental health and well-being and there will be activities for you to complete alongside your child. This is a new initiative we are trying at St George’s.

Careers’ Week - Week beginning 23 June

After the huge success of our first ever Careers’ Week at St George’s last year, we will be hosting a Careers’ Week again this academic year during week beginning 23 June 2025. This is a great opportunity for us to introduce the children of St George’s to the world of work. If any of our parents have any availability that week to come into school to talk to the children about their jobs/careers please let us know. It can be any job or career in any profession. Any parents/carers who are happy to come into school would be asked to dress as they would for their everyday job and, where possible, bring any portable equipment/resources which they use to do their job. We would then ask you to pop into a couple of classes to talk about your work for a maximum of 10-15 minutes which would also include an opportunity for the children to ask some questions.

If this is something you have time to do and would be interested in doing, please complete the details on the form when it’s shared early next week.

Non-Uniform Day - Bring a Raffle/Tombola Prize - Friday 27 June

On Friday 27 June, we will be having a Non-uniform Day for the whole school. We are asking for any donations, for example chocolates, toiletries, new toys and/or games to be brought in by the children, which will then be used as raffle and tombola prizes for the Summer Fun Night on 2 July.

If you have any additional items to donate for the summer fair, for example: toiletries, games, sweets, chocolates, bottles or any other suitable items, please send them into school with your child over the next couple of weeks and before Monday 30 June. Thank you.

Sports Day - Wednesday 2 July

Sports Day for Early Years and Key Stage 1 will be on the morning of Wednesday 2 July from 9.00am and for Key Stage 2 on the afternoon of the same day beginning at 2.00pm. Families are welcome to come and join us.

There will be light refreshments on sale.

St George’s Summer Fun Night - Wednesday 2 July from 3.15pm

We are hosting our Summer Fun Night on Wednesday 2 July from 3.15pm. This event is always well attended by our school community. There will be refreshments on sale and a range of games and activities for both you and your child to enjoy.

If you are attending any events in school, please bring as much loose change as you can to pay for any items. Thank you.

Polite Reminder: No Gifts into School

This is just a polite reminder that, as part of our Poverty Proofing Policy, we do not accept any gifts for staff into school. Please note, we also do not accept the exchanging of any gifts between our Reception and Year 6 Buddies on school premises. Thank you for your continued support with this policy.

If you wish to discuss any item in this letter or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact school.

Best wishes,

Mrs Anne Bullerwell
