Newsletter 15.9.2023

15th September 2023

Dear Parents and Carers of St George’s,

What a brilliant start to the new academic year it has been!

School Building Work and Development

The new offices and Early Years Classrooms are nearly finished and the new heating system has been installed. We still have an awful lot of work to do but we are getting there! Thank you so much for your continued patience whilst we are still managing our office space across two buildings. We really appreciate your support and understanding at this time.

We are hoping to be using the new office space within the next couple of weeks and the Early Years classrooms should be ready around about October half term.

Facebook

On Monday 18th September, we will be closing the current school Facebook page and moving to a closed ‘group’.  The Facebook group will post weekly updates from classes to share a flavour of what’s been going on in school that week. We will be sharing photographs of children enjoying all aspects of school life but only if we have your consent to do this. If you have previously given consent to school and no longer wish for your child’s photograph to be shared on social media nor the school website, please contact the school office to update us.

When you join the group, you will be asked questions to show you are connected to a child currently on roll in school.  If you have any problems when trying to join, please contact the school office.

You can request to join the school’s closed group by following this link:

Food Allergies

Thank you so much for supporting St George's in creating a nut free environment. When children are diagnosed with food allergies, we have to ensure that our school environment is as safe as possible for everyone. There is information on the school website to support families with packed lunch choices. Please use the link St George's Catholic Primary School - Healthy Packed Lunch (stgcps.org)

Mrs Lomas

Mrs Lomas, one of our longest standing members of staff, is retiring at October half term. I would like to thank Mrs Lomas for the fantastic contribution she has made over the years to our whole school community in her wide and varied roles. I would also like to commend and thank Mrs Lomas on her exceptionally long service of 30 years and the loyalty and commitment she has shown the children and community of St George’s throughout her time here. St George’s has benefited from her passion and many skills, talents and expertise. Mrs Lomas will be a huge miss at St George’s and I know the whole school community joins us in this sentiment.

On behalf of all of the children, staff, governors and parents/carers, both past and present, I wish Mrs Lomas the very best of health and happiness in her retirement and wish her the very best of luck for the future. Mrs Lomas leaves the school a better place for having been in it and St George’s will not be the same without her!

Dates for your Diary

As a school, we do our utmost best to set the dates in our diary and adhere to them whenever we can. Sometimes, things happen to prevent these events from going ahead and we do need to change what was planned. We will always endeavour to give our parents and carers as much notice as possible when this happens. Please note, we will always put the needs and the best interests of the children first, even if this means we need to cancel an event with limited notice for our parents and carers. I can only apologise in advance, if this causes any inconvenience to anyone.

Please contact the school office if you have any concerns or queries or you would like to discuss any matter further.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Best wishes,

Mrs Anne Bullerwell

Headteacher
