Year 1/2 Blog w/b 31/8

This week in Year 1 and 2 we have had a fantastic first week back at school. We have settled into our new routines really well and have made a great start to the year.

In English, we have enjoyed our ‘Meet the Author’ week. We have explored the life and work of Charles Dickens in preparation for reading Oliver Twist.

In Guided Reading, Year 1 have explored On the Train to Troon, while Year 2 have explored The Tale of Chicken Little. We have made predictions and worked hard to identify the author, title and illustrations.

In our Zones of Regulation work, we have been thinking about different feelings and how we can recognise and manage our emotions. We have painted pegs for our class display, helping us to talk about how we are feeling and how we can care for and support our friends.

We have also enjoyed exploring our outdoor construction area, building, creating and working together.

Well done Year 1 and 2 for such a brilliant first week! We are looking forward to all the learning ahead.
